The Importance of Fundraising
The Sherwood F.C. Fundraising Committee was set up to:
- Promote fundraising events on behalf of the club
- Raise the profile of the club within our local community
- Develop links with local businesses and potential sponsors
Sherwood 5000
An initiative launched for the 2009/10 season to promote fundraising events across the club to raise £5000.
'Sherwood 5000' fundraising initiative reached the £5000 milestone after a very successful club Quiz Night in March raised over £750 profit. This marked the end of an effective fundraising campaign kicked off during the 2009/10 season with the aim of involving as many members as possible across the club. Sherwood F.C. thanks all volunteers who got team fundraisers off the ground; supermarket bag packs, car wash , cake stalls, tombolas, hat sales, boot cleaning, Carrington Cafe, bacon sanwiches, sweeping leaves, the list goes on! We also organised three club wide events; the two quiz nights and the first ever SFC BBQ as a curtain raiser to the 2010/11 season raising £550 on the day.
How do we use the money? Additional funds allow us to provide an end of season trophy to all 350 players, run the ten week summer school free of charge for hundreds of five to eight year old children in our community, continue to supply football strips free of charge to all players and of course by footballs.
Our work doesn't stop here! We need to find new ways of bringing new money into the club and welcome ideas from all members.Please shout up if you have a fundraising idea, call Matt Nicholson on 01159623664.
